Tuesday July 23 - Thursday July 25 (Stryker and Fulton County Museum)

Tuesday
I managed to update the blog yesterday, it took me quite a while with one arm but I finally managed it, lol!

Last night, Guido decided to sleep on my bed and I got a couple of great photos of him, they were a wee bit dark as I only had the bedside lamp on. I dozed off with the lamp still on but became aware of Guido moving and talking.

The next moment I felt something on my arm, I looked down and it was a tiny frog (Tree Frog I think). I flipped it off and Guido sprung into action, lol, he played with it for a while inculding on the bottom of my bed. Guido and the frog then disappeared, I have no idea where to, and the frog has not been seen since. I will leave the outcome for readers to imagine, lol!

Today was another cooller day and once again we had a breeze through the house.

Wednesday
It was a beautiful day, pleasantly warm, with lots of sun and fluffy white clouds dotted against a blue sky.

Lisa had to go to Walmart in Wauseon to exchange her glasses and we then went on to visit the Fulton County Museum.

It was very interesting, well set out and full of historical exhibits from around this area of Ohio.

In the entrance, in a special area that followed the walls and set up well above floor level, there were many machines from the past, mostly farm implements.

There was also a Gift shop in the entry hall.

There was evidence of mammoths from centuries ago, artifacts from a pioneer family, some beautiful Indian work as well as old maps and even a depiction of how they built the first roads for wagons.

I was particularly interested in an old map, from the late 1800s, of the area that showed the north east of present day Ohio as being sold to Connecticut for people who had lost homes in the war.

There was also evidence of a tract of land to the north west, between Ohio and Michigan, that was under dispute.

There was a special exhibit about Woodson Campbell who was active in show business for 50 years, there were many interestng artifacts and stories from his life.

There were so many different exhibits and stories of and about life in the early days of this area.

This was followed by some information about Barney Oldfield, a racing driver from way back.

Some history about the developments in communications was also of interest and there were lots of old posters all round the exhibits.

It was interesting to read about how schooling started in the area. I loved the apple on the teacher's desk!

All you married female teachers out there, no jobs for you in those days, lol!

Then there was an exhibit of olden washing implements and, finally, we walked past an olden typewriter?

The museum is well worth a visit with so much of interest to see and learn about.

Harry came home quite late from trucking, he had a bad run through Cinncinnati which put him behind.

Thursday
It was another lovely day today. Harry did not have to go trucking until mid afternoon so he was able to chill out for a while.

I also chilled out and managed to update the blog again, lol!
