Monday - Wednesday July 3 - 5 ( Port Orchard and fireworks)

Monday
The weather is warming up and that cool breeze appears to have gone!

I had a quiet day today although we did go out later to do a wee bit of shopping. I grabbed a coffee from a drive through Starbucks on the way home, my first for a few days.

Tuesday
It was a very pleasant day, and it really warmed up after lunch. I lay on the swing seat and fell asleep late this morning, I did not have a good night's sleep, that is my excuse and I am sticking to it, lol! I did finish one of the books I brought over with me, mainly to read when I was up in the air!

Later, I sat outside in the sun and it was pleasantly warm! The day was punctuated by the loud bangs of unofficial and illegal fireworks, they were still going on when I went to bed and well after 1 am, lol!

After dinner, we headed off to Puget Sound to find our place to view the fireworks. We found the same spot as last year, opposite the Navy Yards and settled in to watch activity on and around the sound as we waited for the display.

Cheryl found a couple of rocks that had been placed as part of the activity that covers a lot of the towns in the area. One of them was fairly high up in a tree and Jim had to get his chair using the leg to dislodge the stone so it fell to the ground, lol!

A couple of jets left contrails in the evening sky and they were unusual in their shapes! We had a great view of the sun going down over the Olympic Mountains although there was not as much colour as I have seen.

There were fireworks going off up and down the sides of the sound and plenty in the area not too far way from where we were sitting.

We also saw some shoals of fish break the surface just in front of us, this went on for some time.

Finally, the display started and there were some spectacular sights with lots of thunderous bangs, lol!!

We headed home as soon as it had finished and it the roads were crowded for quite a way home, police were controlling one intersection but it did not take long for us to hit clear road.

After a nice cup of tea I headed to bed.

Wednesday
I slept rather late and after breakfast I sat outside in the sun for a while and read. Then I moved to the swing seat and carried on with my reading, I did finish the second book but Cheryl found a few in her goodwill box so I will attack those now, lol!!

While I was reading Serenity and Gracie Mae were playing outside and chewed a piece of wood down to small pieces, lol. Then I noticed that Serenity had my packet of mints in her mouth, she charged off inside so I had to call to Cheryl to rescue them for me, lol! Fortunately, they were in a plastic packet and the openings were snapped tight. All it needed was a wash! When I returned to my reading, I noticed my bookmark was missing. It is a 3D bookmark with a bald eagle on it, it now also has some puppy tooth marks!

We went out to Shari;s Cafe and Pie Shop for tea as on Wednesdays they offer a free slice of pie if you purchase dinner. I took my slice of Montana Cherry Pie home to have later with a cup of tea, it was very tasty!
