It was a generally cloudy day today but still quite cold and very windy. As I was eating breakfast, I heard a noise and saw Guido behind the TV. I thought he was playing with a spring but when he suddenly shot out I realised it must be a mouse.
Guido was searching high and low and went back underneath the Christmas Tree at which point the mouse high tailed it to the kitchen and has not been seen since, lol!! We had a quiet day, I wrote my blog and managed a short walk in the early afternoon. It was very strange knowing that 2017 had arrived in New Zealand at 6 am this morning, lol!!
About 8 pm we set out for a friend's place down the road for a New Year's Eve party. There was not a huge number of people there but it was a very pleasant evening. The party was in their garage which was nice and cosy as they had a good heater. 
I spent some time downstairs in the house as Aggie, the calico cat, was down there and she is very friendly. Lori came down and we had a good chat, while we were chatting Sammy, the tuxedo, did come out of he hiding place with some coaxing and at one point let me stroke her head. She is painfully shy and Lori is the human she has bonded with. We went back upstairs about 15 minutes before midnight and the others were all laughing as they were watching Mariah Carey's performance (debacle) in Times Square. We had some champagne to welcome and toast the New Year and then the Mariah Carey performance was re wound so we could see it all. Twitter was hot with comments, mostly negative, lol!!
We arrived home not long after and I had a cup of tea and relaxed for a while before going to bed.
Sunday (2017)
It as a glorious day today, sunny and while it was still cold the wind had dropped significantly. I went out for a walk in mid afternoon and it was very pleasant.
Due to the clear skies the first sunset of the New Year was a beautiful one.
