Thursday

I woke up in the middle of the night but eventually went back to sleep. It was an absolutely gorgeous day today, clear blue skies and warm. After breakfast we went over to visit with the cats, Apollo and Callie.

Apollo is such a sweetheart he loves to be cuddled and in fact almost demands it. He is 17 now and beginning to show his years but he is still very playful. We sat out on the deck for quite a while as it was shady.

Once we were back, packed my suitcase and asked Cheryl if she had some books I could take with me. I sat down and read one of them "No Cats Allowed" by Miranda James. It is a mystery with one of the main characters a Maine coon called Diesel. It provided enjoyable, light reading. The others are by Rita Mae Brown and I have started the first one. It has two cats Pewter and Mrs Murphy plus a dog called Tee Tucker as well as other animals and assorted humans! It is also very easy to read.
Later, we went back to the cats and this time I remembered my IPad so I could take some photos. The cats were asleep on a chair in the lounge and I must have woken Apollo from a deep sleep as he jumped when I spoke. It took him a wee while to wake up, bless him! We sat on the deck, it was warmer than earlier as the sun sets on this side of the house but not unpleasant. Again, I had lots of cuddle and Callie, the shy one, seems to have me sorted out now!
For tea we had Polish sausage, baked potato and I had salad.
Friday
I did not sleep well again, too much going on in my mind!! It was another gorgeous day, blue skies and warm again.
After a quiet morning of final packing, the car was packed and we hit the road about 1.30 pm on our way to Massanutten Resort, VA. I put my modem on and checked in with Waze to discover that I-81 was backed up for some miles. The traffic was backed up north of the junction we were to join at and we could see the traffic standing still on I-81 as well as the approach roads.
We then chose another route that would eventually bring us back to I-81 well south of the stalled traffic. However, a wrong turning was taken in Winchester and I used my "English" voice on Google maps to give us directions. For some reason the GPS would not find Massanutten.
We saw more of Winchester than we cared to but finally we were approaching the junction of I-81 so I was able to put my maps away, lol!

Later, we found out the issue was a bad accident and there was one fatality, the driver, while the passenger was in a serious condition in hospital. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown out when the car rolled over many times, so very sad!!

It was a very pleasant drive, lots of trees and farmland with views of mountains on either side of the road.
We finally reached the resort about 4.40 pm and moved all our stuff into the villa. There will be eight of us here, Cheryl, Dan, Shalon, their son, Chris, and his wife, Chris, their two boys Daniel and Devon, as well as myself!! Talk about crowded house, lol! I get to sleep on the sofa bed in the main room, it reminds me of my stay with Cheryl and Jim in Victoria. Although, this room is much larger than the one there!!
Just before we turned off for the resort, we stopped to get some BBQ Beef and Pork, this was the fare for tea with coleslaw and a roll.
