Welcome to warm and humid Chicago! It is very unpleasant though how I feel about it is coloured by my lack of sleep, lol!! The alarm was set for 5.30 am and I woke up with a start as I could hear thumping. I thought I must have slept through and my ride to the Amtrak station in Bryan was here.
But, no, it was Bruno's tail thumping on the floor outside my bedroom door, it was only 3.45 am, lol!! Nuff said!!
My lift arrived bang on 6.20 am, so I farewelled my four legged friends, did a quick check and locked the door. We were at the station well on time for the train but, unfortunately, it was 40 minutes late, lol, thanks so much for the ride Fred!! While waiting I saw four freight trains as well as, unusually, the Capitol that was running an hour late, it does not stop at Bryan.
We were about 30 minutes late into Chicago and I forgot th the Willis Tower is shut on a Saturday so no Starbucks there, lol! I could not find one open that had room to sit down so I ended up in a Dunkin Donuts, lol! The station was just over the road so it was not far to go to catch the train out to the airport! Tomorrow, I start the long haul home!
The Jackson Street station has an elevator up/down that is why I walk to it rather than Clinton street. There was a very helpful CTA attendant who helped me with my ticket. The machine does not give change so I had to use my card. The poor guy in front of me, he was in a hurry, put $20 in for a $3 ticket! What a rip off!!
We had a good run out to O'Hare, it is possibly faster than a shuttle and certainly cheaper. I walked to the hotel, I had managed to get a good deal at the Hilton so I will be close for tomorrow.
I went over to check out where Virgin America's check in area is and also wanted to ask a couple of questions. I then wandered back downstairs and found a Starbucks, hence a coffee, lol! Then it was back to the hotel where I decided to watch some TV. I had to ring down as there was no signal and within five minutes a lovely Irish lass who is an engineer came to my room.
We had a nice chat while she was working on the issue. She reset the box a couple of times, it did improve but still kept zoning out. She checked another room and the same thing was happening. It could be the weather but was very frustrating as I wanted the watch "The Cat From Hell". The TV did settle down later so i was able to switch channels and re-watch a couple of Jason Bourne movies, lol!!
I was showered and in bed early as I needed to catch up on my sleep!
