Sunday July 31 - Tuesday August 2 (Chicago to Napier)

Sunday
After a terrible night with the people in the adjoining room keeping their TV on until well after 1.30 am, I managed some sleep and woke up at 10 am. I did not have to check out until noon but was on my way before 11 am. I made my way over to Terminal 3 and was checked in with no charge for my checked bag, I am not sure why not but I was happy to take it, lol.

I was flying Virginamerica this time, I wanted to try them out as United drives me mad, lol!! Although my luggage got labelled through to Napier, I only got my boarding pass for the first flight so it would be interesting in San Francisco!! (Note: I contacted Virgin and should have received all three boarding passes!!!)

I did get TSA Pre Check again, yay, so did not have to take my shoes off. I had been through when I could not find my British Passport. I searched my bag etc, so figured I must have dropped it. It was not under the machines so I went back out.............oh.........I had put it in my back pocket for safe keeping, LOL,! I went back through and had a laugh with the TSA people, PHEW!

I found a Starbucks after going through security.and enjoyed a Latte, I had plenty of time as the flight did not board until 1.40 pm! I had a great holiday as always and thanks again to my hosts Cheryl & Jim, Connie & Joe and last but not least, Lisa & Harry. I enjoyed all my canine and feline friends! Thanks also for all those who took me out along the way and that I met again!
The flight to San Francisco was not too bad although quite a large guy was in seat next to me, he was staffer, so it meant I was a wee bit squashed. Later, the young boy in the seat behind me started kicking the seat. I think he was not happy as I as reclined but I need to do that for my back. I purchased WiFi to help me pass the time!

I took a few photos as the weather was mostly clear, we did hit a couple of patches of thick cloud and that meant a wee bit of turbulence, just enough to put the seat belt lights on!

Approaching San Francisco and it was very cloudy, maybe a hint of a sea mist as well, however, it was clear over the bay. Any flight that ends with the wheels touching the tarmac has to be a good flight, lol!

At San Francisco check in I did receive an explanation of sorts about the double check-in. United is the only airline that has a walk through to the International gates, so it looks like I will have to bite the bullet and fly with them to San Francisco in future!

I made it to the Singapore Airlines Lounge, my I do get around these lounges, and managed my usual Baileys and Ice, lol!! Boarding started a bit late but was achieved speedily. I was in Business Class as I had been granted an upgrade.

Sunday - Tuesday (Monday lost!!)
The flight was smooth until we reached the area around the equator where we had a few minor bumps. I watched one and a bit films with my dinner before bedding down. "Money Monster" with George Clooney and Julia Roberts as well as "Captain America: Civil War". I watched the rest of the latter when I decided it was time to rise.

I then watched "Keanu", there is a lot of violence but quite a bit of humour. It is all about a kitten (Keanu) turning up at a guy's house and how it gets stolen. A thug has the kitten and he, along with his friend, have to work for him in order to retrieve Keanu. I then watched Serena, this was extremely interesting and powerful as it followed Serena through 2015 when she fell at the final hurdle in her quest for the grand slam. I enjoyed all the films and they were all very different.

Welcome home?? Haha!! Please go through XRay, nothing found of course! Then the lovely black lab sniffed my back pack and sat down. So my back pack emptied and searched, again nothing found. Finally, I had to go through security at the Domestic Lounge, I was pointed to a lane and asked the woman in front of me if she was going left or right. I started to put my stuff down then this guy on my right said he was also going left. We exchanged a few words and then he deliberately let someone else In ahead of him, nice guy!!! One of the customs people said it was not my fault, the guy who was directing people needed to be clearer!! OMG, welcome home indeed, LOL!!

The flight to Napier was uneventful, lol, although we were about 15 minutes late. Grant was there to meet me and then it was home to my fur babies. Once they realised I was there, they were all over me and obviously very happy. They had been very good for Grant, yay!! As it was a pleasant day, I stripped my bed and put the sheets etc in the wash while I went out to get some needed supplies.

On my return I hung the washing out, made my bed, organised the room, vacuumed and then it was time to unpack. That completed, I got the washing in (it was dry) and then sat down. Suddenly, Seb and Sylvie were in a race trying to get on my lap!!

I watched a bit of TV and then went to bed fairly early. I did manage a good night's sleep even though Seb has become my undercover agent, lol!!!
