Saturday April 18 - Monday April 20

Saturday

Today we headed to a village not far from Sun City, it is in NC and called Waxhaw. It has some quaint shops and nice eating places.

Many of the buildings are now protected as US Heritage. I was also impressed with the number of bench seats set out along the way!

We spent some time in a bead shop, fascinating looking at all the different sized beads and they also had some small rocks, for example, rose quartz and white jade set up as beads.

We wandered up the road and came across Maxwell's Tavern so we went inside to get some lunch. The inside area was very noisy but we went out the back to the patio area and it was lovely, warm and sunny.

They actually had a brand of sparkling water, very unusual. For my meal, I ordered a BLT and it was delicious, one of the best I have had.

After the meal, I asked, out of interest, if they sold hard cider. Our waitress brought out the bar menu and they had three varieties of Apple Cider and one variety of Pear, that is the first time I have found Pear Cider in an eatery.

We wandered further up the road and I went across to take a view back as well as go on the wooden bridge over the railway. The railway line disappears into the distance in one direction!! When I returned Irene told me about the next store that sold Nitro Cream. So we had to go and try this, it was pretty good though 'Simply Natural' still wins my award!!

We wandered back down the street and went into the Antique Mart, they had so many small items, lovely for birthday/Christmas gifts. Our final call was at a Food Essentials store, such a wide variety of interesting items for sale. We returned to Sun City where I collected my coffee for the day and then home. As we were nearly home, a few spots of rain appeared on the windscreen, lucky again!

As we were getting ready to go out for dinner, I had a flood in the bathroom by my bedroom. I managed to turn the water off so I was able to mop it all up!!! I had to use the plunger but eventually I cleared the blockage and Irene sorted the cistern out!!

We were a bit late going out and the first two places we went to were very busy, one of them had so many people waiting it would have been a really long wait. In the end, we went to Papa Johns and got wings and a pizza to take home, lol. The wings were delicious and the Pizza was interesting and tasty, one I had never had before.

Sunday
It poured with rain most of the day today and was not a day for going out. We had planned to go out for dinner but the place closed at 5pm so we went to Harris Tweed for Irene to get some things for dinner. Of course, I had to have a Starbucks. lol

I did some packing while Irene cooked a lovely Spaghetti sauce dinner and Anne, who had collected me with Irene and is to take me back, came along too. We had a good evening of chat until about 11 am.

Monday
The weather was not too bad during the day but we did not go to the Cat Rescue again as it can be very slippery walking down to it. So it was a lazy morning before we were picked up and taken to the Lake House where I was to make a presentation about my fosters to a Cat Lovers Group.

We got there early but found the room had been booked by another group so I was unable to set up before hand. However, it did not take long once the TV had been brought out and I had enough photos and videos to fill up the hour nicely.

We then went and had an early dinner at BBQ521, I had the ribs and they were pretty good. Then home to write my blog and have some more down time before an early night. I discovered that I had left my adaptor plug back at the Lake House and it was too late to pick it up, grrrrr, silly me!! By now, the clouds had built up and weather warnings were coming over the TV. The thunderstorm arrived and it was a good one, there was one VERY sharp and loud clap of thunder, it must have been right overhead! The storm brought some very heavy rain with it but finally it passed on, We had also been under a Tornado warning but nothing eventuated, thank goodness.

As I have to get up at 5 am tomorrow it will be relatively early to bed tonight, lol!!
