Saturday August 16 (Kalamazoo)

Again, I was up early ready to be meet up with Lisa and Harry. They arrived about 7.30 am and we then took off for Little Kalamazoo Speedway. On the way, we stopped for breakfast at a McDonalds close to the track.

We parked across from the competitor's parking lot which was filled with huge Motor Homes with trailers attached to them. The homes are very will fitted out inside and certainly mean a comfortable stay for all while the trailers hold the Quarter Midget Cars as well as all the equipment needed to support the cars and drivers.

We made our way to Lisa's son's home and were welcomed by Harley the Yorkie! We had to wait a while for Brady's first race so the Motor home was a good place to hang out. Our chairs were placed in a good position almost opposite the finish line. The track is a banked track and is not as large as I thought it would be. When there are 8 or more cars in a race it makes for exciting racing!!

As you can see it was a gorgeous day and was beginning to get quite warm as we made our way out to watch some of the racing. Brady had three races to start with and qualified in two of them for the A Mains tomorrow, in the third race he had some bad luck and had to go through a repechage but made it through to the A Mains from that.

At the end of the day we went back to the hotel and had a break for showers etc. We were told about a nice Italian Pizzeria and Bar not too far away. We had a lovely dinner and the prices were very reasonable. Then back to the hotel to sleep, it had been a long, tiring day but very enjoyable.
