Fluffy was very entertaining this morning. there is a loft with a bannister and she loves going up there.
She loves exploring the upper reaches and walking along the rail! She likes napping in the corner behind the ship, a replica of the Mayflower.
We went out in the late afternoon, there was really nowhere to park and there were so many people out and about due to the Blueberry Festival.
We ended up at Captain Lou’s for dinner. When the drinks arrived the server announced, with great pride, they were a straw free place, what the heck when they served the drinks in plastic cups!!! I remember, before plastic straws, we used paper straws, not sure what is wrong with people today!!
Sunday
So it was time for Fluffy’s morning calisthenics on the high
bar (or, maybe ”time to catch my tail”!!). I managed to take a video this time, unfortunately it is too large to post here, it is on Facebook on my timeline! I did take a photo showing her on the high bar!
I stayed back again and we went out for dinner in the late
afternoon, it was certainly not as crowded as yesterday so we could move more
freely. We also found a park not too far for the main drag. We had dinner at
Tasty, a tapas and small plates restaurant. I had the shrimp with crispy
parmesan bread and it as delicious. We then wandered round the shops and I
brought a couple of nice T-Shirts. Barb and I had ice cream from Captain
Nemo’s, surprisingly they did not have blueberry, lol.
Monday
Barb and Rick set off for Okemos about 2 pm and I went out
for a walk down to the Black River Park. There were lots of boats, large and
small on the way and down on the water. There was also a lot of surface water
on the road to Downtown so I did not bother to try and walk further, the road was
closed to traffic.
Tuesday
I sat out on the deck and read for a while and then
decided to walk to Meijer to replace the green pepper I had brought with me. It
turned into another day of adventure!
The green pepper had frozen at the back of the
fridge. And you know what thawed out green peppers look like, lol! So, I used
Google maps and found that Meijer was only .6 of a mile away!
So off I went, but immediately managed to take the
wrong road. Because of this I took a wrong turn at the next road and ended up
at the wrong end of a long road, lol! I knew I was wrong when I saw a place
called Six Chicks! I double checked with a local shop and headed off, back all
the way down the long road in warm conditions.
I stopped at a Farmers Market store, with a bakery,
just before the Meijer’s turn off. I figured I deserved a reward, lol. I bought
two bear claws and a lovely employee put them in a box for me! The Meijer is
well back from the road and this lovely lady stopped and took me to the store.
I was b*****ed!
After getting a green pepper and a couple of other
items I went to customer service to ring for a taxi. She had two numbers,
transit and a taxi service, so she rang the latter but there was no answer. So
she rang the other number, I spoke to a lovely lady and she told me I could get
a ride back to my base. It would be a few minutes and would cost $1.25, shock
horror, lol!
I waited outside and a lovely Meijer employee
chatted to me and kept me company. The ride arrived and the driver was a lovely
young man, so very helpful and patient. He drove me to the rear entrance to the
park where I am staying! This service is provided by Van Buren STAR. I cannot
speak highly enough of them and the service they run.
I have had time to recovering and worked out I
walked nearly two miles instead of .6, lol. Although it was a rough day in some
ways, I met so many lovely, helpful people they kinda made it great!!
Wednesday
I spent a wee while outside again and
finished my book. I then started the next one, lol! I popped out to check where
the bus stop by the 7th district Court was situated before working
on the blog, which was grossly out of date!
Thursday
I did not feel quite 100% today, nothing
to put my finger on so I had a quiet day and updated my blog with some more
notes I had made. I did sit outside and read for a while.

Fluffy certainly takes a good photo and the light shows her off well, she seems to like having her photo taken, lol!
I also went outside and took some photos of the glorious moon.

Friday
I spent a fairly quiet day while waiting
for Barb, Rick, Fluffy and Fuggly to return. There was some rain early this morning
but it cleared nice and early to another warm, sunny day. I sat outside and read
for a while.
Saturday
This morning I caught Fluffy and her dismount from above!

We went out to the Farmers Market and there
was a great variety of stalls to be seen. I purchased a few items and Barb
bought me a lovely, cute bag. I bought her three prints of South Haven, which she
chose.

Barb noticed a couple of kittens from a rescue that were up for adoption
so we went over to see them, of course! There was a lively tuxi and a sleepy
tabby! I spoke to barb and this lady next to me immediately asked me where in
England I came from, lol. She was born in East London aand is now married to an
American who owns a trucking business. She goes with him as they try to build some
touristy things into their schedule.
On the way home, we went to Meijer, where
Barbara managed to find a nice photo frame,
and it was on special, lol!

Sunday
There was quite a storm that lasted
for most of the morning, thunder, lightning and some heavy rain.

It did clear away in the afternoon and we went down to the beach where I took some photos. The lake level has certainly risen from the last time I was here a couple of years ago!
We drove home past some very large and expensive houses that looked out over the lake!

It was time leave South Haven, I have enjoyed my stay! I packed my things into various bags, Rick packed the car and we headed off about 2 pm.

Poor Fluffy was not a happy chappy and just would not settle. So I undid the zipped mesh door and she was much calmer, curling up just inside the door.
She popped her head up to look out of the window three times but she was so much more settled.

Once back in Okemos, I put my dirty washing in the machine and proceeded to pack my case. As I am returning in three weeks, I left quite a few items behind.
