I was a warm and sunny day so I hit the patio for breakfast and generally chilled out today! Jackie works Tuesday through Saturday and I am quite happy on my own. I have my IPad and a couple of good books, lol!
I am investigating the local train and bus travel so I can take a few daily excursions on my own!
Wednesday
Again it was warm and sunny so I headed to the patio with my breakfast. Later I went out for a shortish walk bascially round the large block, lol!! I saw a large olive greeny/brown lizard but I did not have any sort of camera with me! As I carried on I saw two bright green, smaller lizards run across some grass! Today is obviously "Scare a Lizard:Day", lol!!
Once back at base, I relaxed before tea and a shower.
Thursday
It was another warm and sunny day today and, again, I ate my breakfast in the patio.
Later on I went out for a walk, this time I headed towards Boynton Beach Boulevarde.
I saw some turtles basking in the sun on a log as well as lots of small brown lizards and many of them dart under the rubbbish bins for safety, lol!
On my return I relaxed on the patio until dinner time.
After the sun set I looked outside to see the reflections of a beautiful moon shining down on the water!
Friday
It was a sunny start to the day although thunder and rain was forecast for later. During the early afternoon, I could see cloud building up. I had planned to catch one of the local buses and go to the Boynton Beach Plaza but had changed my mind with the forecast. It is about ten minutes wallk to the bus stop and I did not wish to walk home carrying goods in the rain!! There were, in fact, some heavy showers about the time I would have been returning home, lol!
When Jackie arrived home we needed to get ready as we were booked in for dinner at 7.15 at the Banana Boat Restaurant, it is rght beside the water. The sky was threatening by the time we left and I remembered a situation on one of my previous visits we were at the Banana Boat and the heavens opened, people who were seated outside had to beat a very hasty retreat, lol.
I felt like a lightish meal and so ordered the English style Fish and Chips, the fish they use is related to Flounder which we get in NZ and I love! The batter was very light and I enjoyed my meal, there was no rain but it was very black outside as we left. Jackie had suprised me with an order of Key Lime pie and I will have a very decadent breakfast tomorrow, lol!
As we drove to a Starbucks so I could finish the evening off with a coffee we could see lightning in front of us.It covered the sky and there was also some forked lightning! On the way home it began to rain and the storm moved towards us very quickly. We could hear sirens and see flashing lights ahead of us, and suddenly a fire engine pulled across the road, a fireman took some cones out of the back of the truck and it was obvious we would not be allowed to go ahead. Fortunately, there was a side road we could reverse back to and it took us nicely round the hold up. I thought it could have been handled better and cones put out further back along the road, and sooner, they could have caused another accident, phew!
We arrived home to heavy rain and the storm was now overhead so there was thunder and lightning as well! Jackie dropped me off by the steps and parked the car. She could not open her umbrella so she got nicely wet! The storm passed over us very quickly, one of the fastest moving thunder storms I have experienced. After all that excitement , I headed to bed, never a dull moment!!
Saturday
There was some cloud around today although it was still warmish. It was patio time again and, yes, I did have my decadent breakfast, it was delicious! It was then time to catch up on my ironing. I cooked my open omelet for dinner and it was much enjoyed by both of us, lol!
Sunday
Yet again, it was another beautiful day.
I sat out in the patio again and all was quiet for a short time before the boats, jet skis and the noise resumed, lol! (The photos were taken through the patio mesh!)
Of course, the tragic events in Sri Lanka took centre stage today. I cannot understand how people can carry out such appalling actions against totally innocent people.
Abby spent much of the afternoon in the patio, she loves being out there! She is about 14 years old and very fluffy! I took a few photos of her.
