Saturday October 20 (Dusseldorf to Frankfurt to Thames Ditton)

It was a very cool morning but suggesting the day would be another beauty! I managed to get a photo with my butler, Octavian!

I arrived safely at Frankfurt Airport after the three hour drive from the boat. There was a lot of fog along the way but it had lifted by the time we arrived. As we left Dusseldorf we could see the effects of industry with large chimneys spewing out their exhaust into the atmosphere!!

We were well taken care of by local Crystal Rep who took us to check in and myself onto special assistance!. I spent an hour in the Lufthansa lounge but they collected me far too early, there was no-one actually at the gate so everyone waited outside. They left me there so I had to catch one of the Lufthansa people as he went inside, there was assiatance waiting inside, lol.

We finally boarded and the plane was only about half full. I saw the first class area and I would never buy into that on Lufthansa, the seats were no different to economy, still three abreast, and the only difference was a meal. Lufthansa still serve a snack (sandwich) and alcohol free to economy!

We arrived at Heathrow early and the pilot came over to say he had to slow the engines, lol! We circled a few times and stilll touched down 15 minutes ahead of time. It was very straightforward until I got to security, we had not been offered landing cards on the plane, and I needed one with my NZ passport. Hence, I offered my UK passport and was told to use that in future as there would be no restrictions on my travel!

I had to wait a wile for my taxi but the driver evventually appeared and we went to the cab, it was a pleasant drive back to Thames Ditton and the driver was very helpful. Everyone was at home, so, after a cup of tea, I went upstairs to unpack and have a welcome shower. We had Paella for tea along with the wine I had brought with me, Wendy and Nigel enjoyed it as well. I was so tired I went up to bed nice and early!!
