Friday May18 - Sunday May 20 (Ayden and Belhaven)

Friday

It was another rainy day today and quite humid again. We had fun watching Gracie at breakfast as she was digging in to Terri's purse and taking things out, lol, she is such a character!!

Terri and I did not venture out today. Steve was trucking as per usual and he did go out later to get Pizza for tea from Dominos in Ayden.

Saturday
I had not intended to watch the Royal Wedding live but I woke up about 6 am and switched the bedroom TV and I ended up sitting in the lounge with Terri until 9 am, lol! I was so pleased that the weather played its part to make the day so special.

I then had a quick breakfast as we were going out to a place called Belhaven on the Pungo River, almost due east of Ayden, to have lunch at a restaurant there, The Fish Hook's Cafe.

It was pouring with rain as we left and looked set in for the day. As we drove east, the weather improved and we actually saw a bit of blue sky, lol!

On the way Terri looked up the restaurant to discover it was closed for lunch on Saturdays but she discovered another one that looked OK. The further east we travelled the better the weather became.

Belhaven is a cute, old fashioned small town with a lot of boating as well as some antique/gift shops. We found the restaurant in the "main" street, it was in the Spoon River Artwork and Market.

We walked in and it was such a pleasant surpise, the tables were covered with white linen tablecloths and there were white linen napkins! Fortunately, the prices were very reasonable.

Steve and I ordered the fish and house made fries and the fish was actually soft shelled crabs, lol! Terri had the vegetable sandwich with fruit cup, all the meals were delicious.

We then went for a walk looking in a couple of shops and then onto the river. It was very windy and the river was quite rough, no way would I have gone out on it, lol! I also think I found a boat for Steve! It was cloudy but the rain stayed away and it was still warm.

We then headed back to Ayden via Washington, where we did some shopping in the Walmart's store, it absolutely poured down so we waited a while before going in!

Then it was on to Greenville for a cup of coffee at Starbucks. It was still raining a wee bit when we arrived home. None of us were very hungry and I had an egg salad sandwich later on, lol!

I did catch Ru at the tap in the kitchen sink, Hope tried to join in while Gracie just sat and watched the action, lol!

Sunday

We had another quiet day although Steve installed the second of two barn doors for their bedroom, the door for the spare bedroom had already been installed.

It took a while and we had a break in the middle to go to Simply Natural to get an ice cream, this is the Jersey Farm that produces great ice cream as well as milk and other dairy products. I had Peaches 'N Cream in a waffle cone, yum!! I also bought half gallon of Vanilla to go with a Cherry Pie I had purchased for our dessert one night, lol!

After we returned I went for a short walk up the road and, on the wwy back I stopped off to try and see the kittens but they must have been sleeping!

I then decided to update the blog and had to disturb Odi, mild CH, who was on my chair, it is unusual to see him on the dining room chairs!

Terri cooked Spaghetti Sauce for tea with Garlic bread, yum!!
