Thursday October 12 & Friday October 13 (Napier to Houston)

Thursday
So here I am again, ready for the adrenaline rush of my next adventure!

I was up smartly and with all the packing done I did not have much to do! I did spend a wee bit of time with Seb and finally had to say goodbye to him. He has not been 100% recently and has some meds so I hope he recovers soon.

It was a pleasant day, sunny and mild so it made for a good flight to Auckland. We were warned about some turbulence as we left Napier but it was nothing! There was, however, quite a bit as we approached Auckland.

It was very quiet going through security and there have been many changes as part of the airport upgrade that is going to cost many millions! I spent the waiting time in the Air NZ lounge and it was very quiet to begin with although it did crowd up later. I did manage my usual Bailey's and ice with a cup of coffee, lol!

We left on time and were informed that we would arrive about 30 minutes early in Houston. It was an excellent flight, although we did hit the jet stream earlier than usual and it was a wee bit rough, the cabin crew were instructed to be seated! Other than that it was an uneventful flight.

I did not sleep as I could not get comfortable with my shoulder and eventually asked for the lie flat bed to be turned back into the seat. With a third pillow and the seat in recline mode I was fairly comfy but only managed a couple of short naps! I watched some films to pass the time. I really enjoyed "Wonder Woman", it was not the light weight movie I expected! I also watched "Megan Leavey" based on the true story of a marine and the dog she was given to train, well worth the watch although you might need some tissues!

We landed just under 30 minutes early and it did not take long to pass through security and collect my bags. MJ was waiting for me and we made our way home. It was a very warm day with plenty of sunshine. I sorted out my gear and, after a lovely shower, then relaxed for the rest of the day, I went to bed just after 8 pm as I was falling asleep chatting to MJ, lol!

Friday
I woke up at 2 am and could not get back to sleep eventually doing so about 6 am and sleeping through to 11.30 am! After breakfast, we went to Walmarts to do some shopping, along the way we stopped at US Post as I needed some stamps.

Back at base, I spent the afternoon finishing a few tasks I needed to do. this took longer than anticipated when I decided I should book my shuttle for Boston. There was an offer of a 10% discount with the app so off I went to download it onto my IPad. I then entered the details of my booking and went to pay. now I struck trouble double trouble, first of all there was no discount, second it told me my CVC was invalid, yet it was the one on the back of the card. After many attempts I decided to ring them. I explained the issue and first I was told to use another credit card (???), then I was informed the code was not working because I was not using a smartphone, duh!! i have used many apps for the iPhone that work fine on the IPad, I have never heard that before!! By this time I was truly frustrated, talk about time wasting, and told the agent I would use their web site to book.

So, off I went, found a 10% coupon for OCT17, read the details and entered all the details of my booking. At the checkout I applied the coupon and got a message telling me the code could not be accepted, grrr. I tried a couple of times and then decided to pay anyway and submit an error to them. This I did and the next thing i knew I had two confirmation emails with exactly the same information, one from GOshuttle ($26) and one from GOBostonshuttle ($23.99), I had not been anywhere near the latter web site. i checked my card and only the $26 was recorded. I rang GO again and it was no help, he could only see one booking he said.and was no help at all. He said he would put me through to their local company, it was a limousine company and the call dropped out.

By this time I was pulling my hair out, or would have been if it was long enough! So, I went to the GOBoston site and they offered a $5 discount for online bookings. I entered all the details, again, and everything went through fine, I received the one confirmation! I then rang GO again to cancel the booking with them. When I was told it would be 7 to 10 days before I got my money back it was the last straw for me as it must have been a fault in their system.

Tomorrow, I will compose an email to GO, explaining the amount of time i wasted trying to make a simple booking and that it is unacceptable that they hang on to my money for taht long!!!

So it was off to bed to hopefully get a better night's sleep, the adventure is well and truly under way!!!
