Friday
Yesterday evening there was
a beautiful sunset. It was hidden behind a cloud bank which might have made it
even more spectacular.
It was a very good flight
and landed 25 minutes early in Houston, we had a woman driver, lol! I then made
it to the United Lounge and spent the following nearly five hours there as the
flight for Auckland was due to leave at 10.15 pm! I treated myself to one Baileys on Ice, very pleasant, lol!!
It is really strange that I have met several couples from Cleveland on this trip, does every one need to escape, lol! I thought of the lovely lady from the train when I heard that Cleveland beat Boston and moved on to the final series, she must have had a great night!
Even though I am not sure
what will greet me I will be pleased to be home!
Oh my, I was hoping Air NZ
would have Hidden Figures on and it did. Man it was awesome, what they did was
so cool! It brought tears to my eyes! The things we do not know! Three truly
remarkable women and how they changed attitudes through sheer brilliance.
Sunday
Saturday disappeared over the Pacific somewhere, lol. I managed some sleep on the flight and we arrived in Auckland about half an hour early. This meant we arrived at a similar time to planes from other US ports so it was quite busy. It was fairly wet but the fog that had disrupted domestic travel on previous days did not eventuate thank goodness.
I sent an hour or so in the domestic lounge before it was time for my flight. We arrived on time in Napier and my fried as there to pick me up. it was a very strange feeling heading for a place I had only previously seen briefly!
Grant was at work but had left the key under the front door mat. Seb was in his room but I went in once my friend had gone and he seemed pleased to see me. The place was a bit chaotic and my bedroom seemed full of boxes, lol.
My first task was to unpack my car, I had packed it with my clothes and other last minute stuff! once that was done I unpacked a couple of boxes, sorted my bed out and then went out to the supermarket for a few groceries. I also called in at my friends to pick up the stuff I had left in her freezer and spare fridge.
I went to bed early and had a reasonable night's sleep.
Sunday June 4
Well I have been home for a week now and it has been interesting. I have spent some time unpacking and sorting things out although there are things I will not be unpacking at this time. There is not a lot of storage space in this house or the garage so things I can manage without will be left in boxes.
Seb is still finding it strange and I suspect he is still somewhat stressed out. Late on Friday afternoon, I took him for his annual check up and he came through with flying colours, he has also put on a wee bit of weight which is good for him. I am feeling sad as my vet is leaving the practice, she is staying in Hawkes Bay but really too far away to take Seb. She has been wonderful with both the cats and I will surely miss her! Seb was funny, as soon as he had received his jab he was down off the table and into his carry cage before I could blink, lol!
I took him out to the car and dropped my bag on the floor while I put the seat belt round his carrier. I shut the car door and, to my horror, the door locked and I could not get into the car via any door! i should explain it is a keyless car but I do not know why it locked itself so will have to ring up and find out, lol!
So what to do!!! I suddenly remembered I was a member of the AA, I have not used them for years, and they are there for incidents like this. I went back into the Vets and was able to use one of their phones, a lady waiting for her dog knew the AA number which was very helpful. I rang up and a message said that if a pet was locked in a car or it was a breakdown in an unsafe area press 1. I was told that the call is then treated as an emergency.
The guy was very helpful and after checking my ID and ascertaining where I was he told me it would be about half an hour. As it was late and there was some light rain I waited inside, checking a couple of times to see if the AA had arrived, on the second check he was there. It was interesting watching him break into the car and I discovered there must be an emergency lock below the dashboard. Poor Seb was not very happy but at least it was not a boiling hot day, thank goodness! We were both happy when we arrived home!
I cannot finish without a comment about the news from London. It is so very sad and I believe these actions are very cowardly. I was planning my final trip back to the UK next May but I must admit I am hesitant as it is difficult to bypass London!
So over and out for now, the blog will resume when I begin my next trip.
