Tuesday May 2 (WPB Downtown)

I had a quiet start to the day, it looked very warm and pleasant again outside, just like every other day here. They keep forecasting thundery showers but we have not had any yet! I should say that all my gear from yesterday smells OK, lol!
When I changed my bus ticket the other day, she did not give me Economy Extra which will allow me to get priority boarding so I can sit near the front. I need this as I do not travel that well on buses, I do take an anti nausea pill but....... Hence I decided to return to the Greyhound station to change it.

I went down to get the shuttle and the driver was dressed in lime green instead of red, he wore matching shoes as well as a lime green belt. He looked very good!

He was dropping someone else off but I went along for the ride and then he took me to the station. On the way we did have a shower but it did not last very long.

There was a guy in the ticket office and when I explained he told me to keep my original ticket as well as the new one and he would look after me on Sunday.

When I asked about Fort Lauderdale, where I will change buses, he told me to ask for a Manager and to show the original ticket. He was so much nicer than the female I dealt with the other day.

Then it was off to find Downtown. It was a decent walk and I passed a beautiful hedge, I have seen many of these but have no idea what it is! There was lots of construction work, new parking garages and the like. I also passed an empty section but the walls had the gorgeous murals painted on them along with an interesting sculpture!

One of the main streets, Clematis, was closed at the railway lines as a brand new station is being constructed, apparently it is for the Florida train that will run from Orlando to Miami. I eventually found a Starbucks and went in to grab a coffee and sit in the cooler air.

There is a park at the end of the street so I thought I would go and explore that for a wee while. Well, so much for that idea, the whole park was closed off for an event, you could not even walk round it, grrrrr! I did find the marina, wow, talk about yachts owned by the wealthy and I could see Breakers Resort in the background, obviously the IPad came out! As I left the Marina, big grey clouds were approaching and there were several rumbles of thunder!

So I walked back towards Clematis Street along Olive Avenue where I could catch a free trolley back to the station to save the shuttle driver a trip into downtown. I did not know where the stops were and could see this trolley parked up quite a way ahead. I hurried along and was fairly close, I waved my arms at him, but he took off and went passed me without a glance. Needless to say I have not got any good words to say about him, lol!

By this time it was raining quite hard although it varied from location to location as I could see a lot of blue sky! The next trolley came along so it was back to the station to request the shuttle to pick me up. As it was so warm I decided to get an ice cream, bad idea as I discovered the cone was badly cracked when I went to lick it! I ended up with ice cream all over my hands and had to eat it out of my hand, lol, what a mess! (Un)fortunately, I could not take a photo to show the evidence!

I did not have to wait too long after that for the shuttle and had managed to clean myself up, phew! It was raining quite hard on the way back but at the hotel the sun was out again. I did some more packing and then sat down to write the blog. I put the TV on for company and was shocked when I heard a tornado warning come over, it is the first one like that I have heard. Nothing eventuated thank goodness!
