Friday May 19 - Sunday May 19 (Rockville to Frankford and return)

Friday
After a quiet morning, although I did pack my bag, we went for a walk along the towpath of the Chesapeake and Ohio canal which runs parallel to the Potomac.

We saw a variety of wild life - many turtles, fish of various sizes, a squirrel and a couple of Canadian Geese with two youngsters.

At one point the water was clear and we came across a waterfall that was feeding in fresh water.

We also saw some canoes on the Potomac plus a self service ferry over to an island midstream. People had to belong to a particular club to use it.

We walked a bit over two miles and it was a very warm day but we were shaded from time to time by the trees.

Then we drove home via a Mexican place for Mayo and Scott and a Starbucks for me.

After a quick shower and Scott collecting Phoenix from school we set off for Frankford DE and their holiday home.

We arrived about 7.45 pm after driving through some fairly heavy traffic, patches of heavy rain and there were also some storms around.

When we arrived, I got the tour of the house and it is awesome, I had seen the outside last year and even that looks completely different.

I had seen pictures of the inside from June last year and there have been a lot of changes. Scott, with help from Mayo, has done a lot of the work himself.
We then went out to the local restaurant, Porto, and had a great meal. The menu is very extensive for a country restaurant and it is very popular, people come from miles around.
Saturday
It was sunny today but much cooler, by about 20 degrees F, than it had been! We had a fairly lazy day and there was a delivery in the afternoon so we went out about 4.30 pm.

We went out to visit a couple of resale/consignment shops, there was  lot of beach related gear such as cushions, paintings, photos, furniture, wall hangings and other knick knacks.

I bought a couple of cheap books to read on the train and plane going back. The second place was more commercialised with many local artists selling their wares.

We then went out for tea and drove quite a way to a restaurant called the Big Fish at Rehoboth.

We arrived about 7.30 pm and there was an hour's wait so we drove in the other direction to Ocean City. We had to follow the slow procession of cars down the main drag and it took about half an hour to travel about 5 miles, lol! The 'Cruising Ocean City' event was on and many of the cars were showing their wares up and down the main drag. There were many people sitting along side the road watching everyone drive by.

We ended up at a Restaurant
called 'Bonfires' at an all you can eat buffet. The Canadian Snow Crab legs were not too shabby so I had a few of them, lol!

There was fish, chicken, roast beef and ribs plus salads and vegetables. There were also a variety of desserts.

It was quite late by the time we arrived back home.

Sunday
We were heading back home this afternoon, such a short visit but very enjoyable. I packed my bag as much as I could and then had my breakfast.

In the early afternoon Mayo and I went back to one of the shops from yesterday to purchase an item she had seen. A ten minute trip took us about half an hour as we got caught up in heavy traffic headed back north from a weekend at the beach. Getting back home was much quicker of course!!

We left about 3 pm but Scott stayed on as he wanted to complete a few more tasks (we had travelled down in separate vehicles). Phoenix came with us and Armasis stayed with Scott. We again hit very heavy traffic and it basically lasted until well beyond the Bay Bridge which was many miles away. We stopped at a McDonalds as Mayo and phoenix were hungry, I had a coffee and it was actually very nice and quite hot!

When we finally reached the Bay Bridge, we saw a small ship passing underneath!

Later, I needed a restroom so we stopped at one of the food areas, I felt so much better, lol!! We arrived home just after 7 pm and after unpacking and grabbing some toasted cheese bread for tea I settled down to catch up on the blog.
