Monday April 17 (Washington to Savannah) & Tuesday April 18 (Savannah)

Monday


It was a very long eleven and a half hour trip from Washington to Savannah. As I farewelled DC for a while I got some good views of the monument. There was WiFi on the train unlike on the Capitol from Chicago and that helped pass the time. I had made myself some egg sandwiches the night before so I would not have to purchase food on the train.

As the sun began to drop there was a beautiful sunset and on my side of the train. Unfortunately we were passing through lots of trees but I did manage to get some photos. 

The train arrived 30 minutes late and I managed to grab a taxi to the hotel. The driver was a wee bit lost getting there but that was explained when she realised it was fairly new and she had not been there before.

  So, after four and a half days of travel I would finally put my head down in one place for a few days. The hotel is in Garden City just outside Savannah, I chose it because it was cheaper, lol! It has only been open three and a half months and is very nice, simple yet comfortable. They also run a free shuttle into downtown Savannah so all is good.

There is a free breakfast between 6 and 9 am, not sure if I will make it tomorrow, lol, I am not setting the alarm so we will see what time I wake up. I unpacked, took a shower and had a nice cup of tea before I turned lights out!

Tuesday

Well, I did not make breakfast as I did not wake up until 11.30 am, lol! I must say I felt better for the sleep. I made some breakfast in my room, a jam butty, and then worked on my blog. I then went out to the Food Lion next door to get some more supplies. I managed to get everything including something for my cold. As I was returning back to the hotel, I felt a blob of liquid fall on my head, it was raining from the one dark cloud over my head, everywhere else was sunny. About twenty minutes later, I looked out of my bedroom window and it was absolutely pouring down, lol, dark clouds all over!

i am not feeling too bad considering the drippy nose, lol, but I have never sneezed so much!! The cough is more annoying than the cold!!

I have booked three tours for Thursday and Friday, I will have another quiet day tomorrow to give myself more time to recover. I will do my washing and then catch the shuttle into town for a couple of hours to wander round.
