I was up fairly early as we were off to take the boat out today. It is another lovely day, still very warm, so a good day for boating. Steve puts the boat into the river at a boat ramp on the way to Washington, NC not DC, lol!!
If there is no improvement then the difficult decision will have to be made. Sylvie has not enjoyed the best of health since she had the pancreatitis and I do not want her to suffer. So we wait, and I will worry for Sylvie and Grant!

I had welcome cuddles with Odi, who was purring his head off, as well as Matty. I remember when Matty would not even come near me so it is wonderful that way she is now.

As we left I was informed I was part of the Redneck Yacht Club, lol! We stopped at a local service station to gas up and then it was on towards Washington but we turned off the road and the boat went into the water at the Cotton Patch boat ramp.

The water was lovely and calm. As always, the houses and boats reflected the fact that rich people live around here!

We came upon a couple of guys picking up their crates, they had caught a few crabs and we had a chat to them. One of the guys asked if I had some photos, when I said I did he gave me his phone number to send them to him!

We were travelling through Chocowinity Bay which goes into the Pamlico river at Washington. Along the way we noticed a boat that had just been left in the water, a wreck!! We then took a wee side trip to The Twin Lakes camp ground where there were a large number of RVs parked up. There was a large one for sale on a nice corner lot.

We carried on to Washington and had a different view from the waterfront than when we ate there! We pulled up right at then end, where there is a twenty minute stopping area by a rest rooms. We used the facilities before boarding again.

We headed away from the shore and dropped anchor in a relatively shady spot to eat our picnic lunch of chicken salad sandwiches, yum! We were entertained for a while by a group of Canadian Geese who were having a wash in the river!
We headed back to the ramp and Steve asked me if I would like to drive, I jumped at the opportunity. Steve was very good with help if I needed it especially which side to go where there were markers.

We were both on the lookout for buoys marking crab cages, we did not want to get the propellor tangled up with any rope!! I also had to be aware of "No Wake" areas. I drove back past the boat ramp so we could explore a wee bit more.

I then took us back to a bridge we went under and Lois drove back to the boat ramp. Well, at least that was once Steve got the engine to start, lol!!
We saw a lovely, elegant Blue Heron on the way back to the ramp. The engine was still being difficult although Steve managed to get a bit of a kick start, then he pushed the boat on to the trailer and close enough so he could get the winch cable connected. Then he had to manually wind it the rest of the way!
It did not take long to reach home after a great day out on the water. Tea was very enjoyable, pork chops, hash brown casserole and salad. I had a Mountain Java on ice to follow and to accompany finishing my blog for the day.
