Wednesday September 28 (Massanutten Chair Lift)

One thing I forgot to mention yesterday about Buddy the Kestrel is that above all he prefers catching grasshoppers for his meals, lol!!

The weather looked OK for my Falconry experience today but then I found a voicemail informing me that it was cancelled as I was the only one signed up and there had to be four. From a previous experience I know that one-on-one gives the very best experience!! I was very disappointed as I had really been looking forward to it!

After breakfast I sat and read while waiting for Cheryl and Shalon to come back from a visit back home to do laundry and check on the cats.

After lunch, Cheryl and I went down to the General Store and purchased tickets to the two chair lifts that take people up the top of Massanutten Peak. This is where the transmitting masts are placed and can be seen on a photo taken on our journey up on Friday.

The first lift is very gradual but the second is a steep climb to the top. There are two guys at each station and they actually stop the lift for people to get on and off. As we travelled upwards, we saw all the different ski runs with snow blowers along the side.

We did not see too much as there was low cloud and mist but it had cleared a little! I took a photo of the board so I could see what I should have seen and was then photo bombed by Gnats, lol!! There are swarms of Gnats around, enough to make walking around quite unpleasant!

While it is a Ski area there are also tracks for mountain bikers in the season and on certain days at the present. There were a few people riding up and down and walking around at the top.

I had a cup of tea on our return, then downloaded my photos and wrote up my blog.

Dinner this evening was a fry up of chopped up spam, potatoes and onion, very tasty.
