Thursday - Saturday July 14 16 (Archbold)

Thursday
I slept for some of the day and we did not do very much until evening them we met a couple of friends for a drink at local country tavern.

Then Lisa and I headed into Archbold to the The Blue, a local restaurant. We had dinner there and the friends joined us for a drink.

We arrived home to be met by an enthusiastic Bruno and slighter quieter cats, Niko and Guido, lol!! We sat and talked for some time so it was another late night/early morning!

Friday
I managed a couple of hours of sleep and then had a lazy day. It was a lovely warm and sunny day and I managed to get my washing all done and dried. Lisa and Harry went off to a race track with Karlene, I was welcome to go but it is not really my cup of tea, so I stayed home alone....... well apart from the three four leggeds, lol!! Karlene contacted me to ask I I would like to go to the parade with her and Lori tomorrow, so that was very nice.

Saturday
I was up; and about early, well at least for me! Karlene and Lori picked me up before 9.30 and we were off to Archbold to watch the parade to celebrate its Sesquicentenial (150 years)

We had a good place by The Pop Shop and as soon as 10.30 came around the parade was on its way.

Once we had waded through all the advertising it became much more interesting with tractors old and new, some vintage cars, lots of fire engines and a couple of Clydesdales.

The parade lasted for a couple of hours and, after a slow start with the lollies, they were being thrown to the kids more regularly!!

It was a very pleasant way to spend an hour and the weather, while cloudy, was equable. We went for lunch at a local cafe and I had the very best BLT I have ever tasted. There was plenty of bacon and not too much mayo.

The toasted wheat bread was not too thick so was nice and crisp. It was the BBQ Cheeseburger without the burger and the cheese, lol!

They then dropped me home and I relaxed for a bit. then it was time for Lisa and Harry to leave for the track again, it was still cloudy but was forecast to clear and it did clear later on!

I did all my ironing of which I had rather a lot, lol! The phone went and I saw it was from Lisa's friend, Shirley, she rang to ask me if I would like to go get some ice cream and then go to watch the fireworks. That sounded good and I had plenty of time to eat my tea first.

When Shirley picked me up dusk was setting in and the sky was a beautiful pink colour, there was also a gorgeous moon shining down on us.

The ice cream was good, they make a lovely sugar free black cherry flavour with real fruit, yummy!! We found a spot and it was not long before the fireworks started, it was a good display and, although there were a few trees in front we saw most of the fireworks. Then it was time for home and to write my blog before turning in!
