I had a wee bit of breakfast, did the final packing and made my farewells to the animals. Barb drove me to the station and we were there in good time. We made our farewells and I did not have long for the train to arrive as it was actually early, lol! I want to thank Barb and Rick for putting up with me again. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and look forward to returning, now it is time for the second part of my trip!
We departed on time but had not gone very far when the train stopped and stood for about ten minutes, no reason was given and no trains passed us from the opposite direction. I updated my blog on my IPad all ready to copy into the online version.
We had a good trip and arrived in Chicago right on time. I went to the Metro Lounge and dropped my bags off then off for a walk to the lake. I discovered that there is now a Starbucks inside Union Station, it only opened last Thursday, so I tried it out, lol!
The NFL Draft starts tomorrow and my walk took me past the venue. I tried the timer on my IPad for the first time so I have learned I need to find a level spot to put it down, lol! I am so pleased I will not be here tomorrow, I imagine that, in spite of an inclement weather forecast, it will be crazy!
Crossing Lake Side Drive on the little white man I nearly got bowled on the crossing by an idiot going too fast and who misjudged his turn slightly, the gesture that followed him was not polite, lol!
There are plenty of Traffic Maintenance people out at the sets of traffic lights, I fear they will have their hands full for the next three days.
I returned to Union Station after a round trip of two and a half miles, hopefully that will be enough for me to get some sleep tonight!
Dinner was an interesting affair, due to my dining companions. A lady who was born in Australia, came to the US in 1972 and is now a citizen living in Chicago, she did like to be the centre of attention, lol! An actor who plays Shakespeare in Washington and the fourth a man who also works in Washington at a small college. It was an interesting meal!!
