Wednesday February 18 & Thursday February 19

Big day today, Chrissy and four of the kittens were off to the vet. I was up early and packed them into their carriers which I had ready last night. Chrissy did not want to go into hers but it did not come to fisticuffs, lol!

The kittens were a wee bit scared when we got to the vet which is not surprising really.

Back home and Ivy was crying her head off in their room. I had to clean their area out so I put her in the bathroom with food, water, litter box, bed and toys. However, she continued to cry!! When I had finished cleaning their area and vacuuming the house I took a late breakfast and into my bedroom so Ivy could come and spend time with me.

My two had the run of the front of the house as per usual but could not get through to the bedroom. Ivy was bouncing off the walls to start with she was having a great time.

After I had eaten I lay down on my bed and finally Ivy came and lay beside me, we both fell asleep, lol!! Soon it was time to go and collect them from the vet. I was given the papers which outlined what had occurred and what to look for in case of difficulties. When the vet assistant went to get them I could hear the kittens crying straight away, Chrissy did not make a sound. They were a bit vocal on the way home but that did not surprise me.

I have separated Chrissy from the kittens and she is in the spare bedroom, she escaped one time when I went in and she was obviously looking for them. I hope she settles down OK. They all ate and drank so that is good.

When I went in to check on the kittens, they had escaped again but they were all growling at one another, even Ivy. Hopefully, they will settle down tomorrow! Obviously they brought home some strange smells and I know anesthetic can have strange effects.
No weights tonight and I will try weighing them tomorrow, I also need to book her in with the vet tomorrow.

Well, what a day today. Chrissy has settled down really well and loves lots of head and neck rubs. She purrs away while this is happening. I will be spending as much time as possible with her over the next four days.

The kittens are another story. The hissing and growling has gone on all day. Ivy (or Rudi) obviously does not like the way they smell and is very aggressive towards her brothers and sisters.

The others respond in kind, with the two girls being very aggressive back, they may of course still be a bit sore as well. I do hop things settle down soon. I am not sure how they will handle being put in with the other kittens at the SPCA!

I have had to leave the "door" to their area open as they keep escaping! This means that I have to be very careful opening the room door as Ivy especially loves to run out of the room. I have had to catch her several times!

When I went in to sit with them for a while, I even got growled at by Ivy and I thought she was going to have a go at me, she is really stirred up but I do not have another space to isolate her. Ivy has turned from a very sweet kitten into a snarling young cat and it is not very pleasant. I will have to work on her when the others leave on Tuesday.

For the very first time, Magda came and sat on my lap and purred, she seemed relaxed and very happy. Cindy-Lou purred when I stroked her but was a bit touchy. The boys, well they are boys and seem quite happy but they again are affected by Ivy.

I only weighed Ivy today and she has gone up to 930 gms (+720),I will weigh the others tomorrow, or at least will try to. Ivy is booked in on Friday week for her spay (or neuter).
