During the, mostly sleepless, night I checked my flight and, as on-line check in was open, managed to change my seat to the front row, nice one. I was up very early so went out for a coffee and then had plenty of time to farewell Sylvie and Seb! Andrea arrived at 8 am to take me to the airport.
After checking in I went up to the Koru lounge and was sitting down when a voice interrupted my dreams, it was Sharon, an ex student for years ago! We had a good catch up, she was off to the Gold Coast (north east Australia) for a Masters Softball Tournament. Then the estate agent texted me to say she was at the airport for me to sign an offer on a house. Mission accomplished it was time to board the plane and I was in the seat behind Sharon, lol!!
After a pleasant flight to Auckland, Sharon and I both headed to the International Lounge. She had to board earlier than me but it was lovely to have the company. Finally, the Perth flight was called so I wandered to the gate for boarding. the flight was on the new Dreamliner and it does seem quieter, the wings are at much more of an angle than other planes and it gives a more "arrow" like appearance. The plane has a black fern covering most of it and looks very smart both outside and inside.
Once we were on our way and after drinks were served, our trays for dinner were brought round, they contained the appetiser, dessert, biscuits and cheese while the main is brought round a bit later so it is piping hot. I am not sure if the couple next to me had flown much before, but they ate everything on the tray including dessert, well before the mains were brought round!!
The lights were dimmed and I did manage to nod off for a bit. Once we were "woken up" with a hot towel and then "High" Tea (as one cabin attendant called it) was served, I suppose if you are at 36,000 feet it can be called High Tea!
I was watching the Air Show during this time and was somewhat confused as the time was showing Perth as four hours behind NZ and I thought it was five! Once the guy up front came on and told us the time in Perth I realised the clock on the Show was incorrect so I mentioned this to one of the cabin attendants. I took a few photos in the cabin and of the view outside as there is a competition running, not sure if I will enter!
After a good flight we arrived in Perth early, we were at a distant gate but the walk was good to stretch the legs out. Security was a doddle and my case was in the first group so I was out speedily. It was a lovely afternoon, sunny and warm.
The early arrival caught my hosts by surprise so I had to wait for them but no worries I finally met up with Margaret and Edgar, mine hosts!!
I met Charlie, their 13 year old Kelpie and after a lot of sniffing (by him!) it seemed we would be OK!! He could probably smell my two cats, lol!! He needed a wash so Margaret got his special bath out and he sat in it waiting for the water to arrive!!! After a light meal and a welcome shower I went to bed fairly early as I was a wee bit tired. I fell asleep reading my book and woke up later totally disoriented so glasses off, light out and fell asleep immediately.
