Friday June 21 - Sunday June 23 (Napier to Stryker)

Friday
I arrived at Napier airport nice and early and checked my bag through to Chicago! I relaxed in the lounge and had longer to wait as the incoming flight was late, this meant we arrived in Auckland 25 minutes late, but I had plenty of time.

I had a new adventure when I forgot to pick up my US$ at the domestic terminal. I spoke to the person manning a Travelex at the International airport and all was OK as a staff member was coming over and would bring it with her, phew!!

I spent several hours in the Auckland International Airport Lounge, again!! I was flying the direct route to Chicago for the first time, the outward flight was to be 14 hrs 55 mins while the return will be 16 hrs 10 mins. I did have one of my usual Baileys and Ice, lol!

The US entry security scan was changed from previous flights.where they were carried out at the actual gate. Today, all the US flights were herded together in the approach to the gates. There were about five flights due to leave within an hour, so it was chaotic and much less efficient.
It was a great flight through to Chicago although these planes have not been fitted with WiFi yet. We landed half an hour early and it was still Friday. The setup at O'Hare is quiet good so it was not too long to pass through security. I rang the hotel about the shuttle but I am sure the message did not get passed along for the 6.30 pm shuttle, when I rang again I was told it would be 7.30 pm, I was not happy and let the guy know so they sent a shuttle straight away, lol!

I went to the hotel restaurant and grabbed some chicken wings to take back to my room for dinner. I enjoyed them and after a shower I went to bed.

Saturday
As I did  not have to check out until noon, I had a lazy morning. The weather was quite pleasant and I checked out just after 11.30 am so I could catch the noon shuttle to the airport. The hotel was very busy as there was an Indian wedding due to occur in the early afternoon. The shuttle driver dropped me off at the very end of the shuttle area so I did not have far to go to pick up the Go Airport Express to Union Station.

I spent the afternoon and early evening in the lounge, it was a long wait, lol! Finally, we boarded the Lake Shore train that would stop at Bryan. I managed a seat on my own so no squashing of my poor shoulders!

Sunday
The train arrived on time in Bryan, ths may well be a first for me, lol! Lisa was there to meet me and we were soon on our way to Walmarts to do some shopping. We arrived home between 3.00 and 3.30 am, Harry was up as he had to go trucking about 5 am. We unpacked all the shipping and put it away then I unpacked my suitcase and took various items up to my room.

We sat and chatted and the it was 6 am so I decided to have some breakfast so I could take my meds, lol! I finally went up to shower and was in bed about 7.30 am. I slept on and off for a large part of the day before surfacing. Lisa made a lovely tea, scrambled egg, green onions for me, tomato and cheese, it was shared between two tomato wraps and was delicious. I went to bed about midnight!!
