Tuesday April 9, 2019 (Napier to Montgomery, TX)

After an early start dealing with some washing I headed to the airport which is undergoing an upgrade. The lounge is still in the same place but will be extended until it is four times its current size. in the photo it will be constructed over the roof of the actual terminal.

It was an uneventful flight through to Auckland with just a few bumps. I was taken to the lounge where I spent a few hours until the evening take off to San Francisco. I need assistance as, with neither shoulder being that flash, I need help with my luggage. My left shoulder is making good progress but there are some areas of weakness and after about a year I will know what the shoulder will be like.

We departed from Auckalnd on time and had a good run through to San Francisco with very few lumpy areas arriving 25 minutes early. There were quite a few wheelchairs waiting and we were moved in relays as there were not enough people to take us all the way. When we arrived at the concourse above the gate there was a huge group of wheelchair riders from India or Pakistan. We all eventually ended up in the security area and our flight was beind the other flight. By this time I was getting a wee bit concerned as I had a connecting flight to Houston and I did not want to miss out on using the bag drop as we would then have had to check in again with United.

My assistant took me to the front of the queue as it seemed I was the only person with a connecting flight. i was next to pass through security when the agent closed up shop and went to deal with an emergency! He was not replaced and after 15 minutes or even more I was really gettign worried. noe of the othr assistanats disapeared and when she returned I was ushered to another agent and was next in line. I thanked her and the Customs officeer most profusely. Apart from taking four attempts to get my right hand fingerprints, there was no problem getting through and we headed to the baggage area. My bag had already been taken off the belt and yet another assistant took it to the bag drop for me. I was dropped off at the gate with a few minutes to spare before boarding, phew!

We left the gate on time but were warned we would be in a queue to depart as one of the runways was closed due to the high winds. We were about 30 minutes late taking off, lol, but I have never sat in a queue like that and it was continuous as we saw when we finally took off! In between planes taking off, planes had to land of course and there was a sky queue as well, lol!

it was a fairly good flight through to Houston and we were only a few minutes late landng. However, United had failed to put my name down for assitance but the younger guy was not going to leave me so he eventually took me through to collect my bag and out to the passenger waiting area. Mudjie found  me almost immediately after I texted her. Robert had driven the car out and we were soon on the way to their home. Mudjie handed me a botle of Perrier Water, my favourite sparkling variety

It was just over an hour to drive to home and after a ham sandwich so I could take my meds it was off to bed!
