Wednesday 24 October (Richmond Park)

It was cloudy this morning and, at times, looked as if it would rain, but it did not!!

I worked on my blog this morning and then, after lunch, we headed out to Richmond Park. The weather as beginning to brighten up and we saw the sun and blue sky during the afternoon.

Richmond is one of the many Royal Parks and is therefore protected, long may this last. It is so good for Londoners as well as visitors to have all the parks for their enjoyment.

The park is very large and we visited a large closed off area called Isabella Plantation.

It was very pretty with so many different colors being displayed by the trees. We saw some gardeners planting bulbs to be ready for the new season. There are a couple of ponds and some tiny streams running through it.

We saw a couple of squirrels, busy stocking up before winter arrives, and heard a few birds including Parakeets.

I was amazed to hear that these birds now fly free in the UK, it was such a surprise to actually see one! We actually saw one later on in our walk sitiing on a branch.

There was still some colour from flowers and we even saw a Camelia still active with new buds as well. There was a tree that was obviously new this season and it was unusual as the bark was green. It appeared to be doing well.

On the way home we drove past the hotel where Nigel and Wendy got married seven years ago, I was lucky enough to be able to attend. I had booked my trip well before the date was announced and it was the day after I arrived in the UK, so very lucky!!

We then went to Sainsburys in Surbiton to shop for tea, I bought a few things as tea was sort of my idea, the idea came up while we were talkng earlier on!

I managed to finish my blog and found a day I had not published so that is now out of order, grrrrr!
