Wednesday September 26 & Thursday September 27 (Eastbourne)

Wednesday
Today was another gorgeous day, nice and warm too!

A school friend, Yvonne, picked me up from my hotel and we had a nice drive out to the Cuckmere Inn, it was originally called the Golden Galleon!

We had to cross the one lane bridge to get to it, lol! it is a very busy road with buses and trucks as well as many cars, I am surprised they have not widened the bridge!

We had a wonderful time, sitting outside, it was a great lunch and Yvonne paid, the naughty lady!

We then went to another venue at the other end of Eastbourne where at least I could buy the coffees, lol! My feeble attempt at a selfie was outdone at the second venue right by the sea.

We had a great chat and Yvonne was able to tell me about some of our cricket team members. We had both studied geography and we talked about trips we had been on as well as the teacher, we had also both studied German so that was more common ground we covered.

She dropped me back at my hotel and then it was time to say farewell!

I had a break and then headed out just after 7 pm to the Bandstand for the 1812 Fireworks and Proms Concert by the Eastbourne Siver Band. it was the final one for the season and I had only found out about it by accident so I was very lucky

There was quite a queue but I managed to find a good seat so I could go live on some of the tunes. it was a very good programme with plenty of variety and opened with the William Tell Overture.

The second half programme presented Jerusalem, Pomp and Circumstance, Rule Britannia and built up to the fnale of the 1812 Overture, the Fireworks kicked in part way through and they were perfectly synchronised with the music. It was a spectacular end to the concert!

I walked back along the sea front to my hotel, there was a spectacular moon and then I came across some guys marking the road, lol!

(Please note, there are a number of videos that I wil post on You Tube)

Thursday
Once again I woke to another gorgeous and warm day, although it was a cool start. I wandered over to the coffee caravan on the Western Lawns and grabbed a coffee and sandwich for breakfast. I caught the bus, for the stop behind the hotel, into town. I checked a couple of things at th Railway station and then walked down to Sainsburys, a supermarket, to get a few supplies. It is in the Arndale Centre and I walked further on once I had my purchases.

I then found a bank to change an old £1 coin that I had taken home from my last trip, lol! I had a long walk back to find the bus stop to take the bus back towards my hotel and had to wait a while. Finally, it arrived and I was soon back at the hotel. I had a cup of tea and then headed out with a book to sit on the Western Lawns and enjoy some sun! It was lovely just sitting there and the view was great!

Then it was time to head back, update my blog, shower and have some tea.
