Wednesday November 15 onwards (San Francisco to Napier)

Wednesday
I was up fairly early as the airport shuttle was picking me up at 9.40 am. I had my breakfast, finished my packing and rang for the concierge to take my cases down. I moved the first case outside and managed to lock myself out of my room, lol, the door swung shut on me! So off I went to ask for another key and I passed the concierge at the elevator!

The Shuttle was on time and we had a very good run out to the airport so I was nice and early. I checked in and was taken to the United Club until it was time to board. I did go out and get a Starbucks coffee, lol!

We had a good flight from Chicago to San Francisco, just a wee bit of turbulence as we approached San Fran. We landed 14 minutes early, yay! And it was evident that Francisco has finished much of the upgrade to the terminal in that area. It looks really good!

I was taken round to where the lounges were but they have all moved and the only one available in the International Terminal was a United Club. It used to be for first class but is now only for international travellers. It is far superior to the other United Club lounges I have been in, the food is much better and the alcohol is FREE, lol, so I had my usual Baileys and ice! I chatted to a lady bound for Zurich with her husband. They live in San Francisco and she has visited the South Island of New Zealand, she was very impressed and said how beautiful it is.

Boarding for NZ7 was nice and early but some passengers were delayed on a connecting flight and the plane waited for them so we took off 45 minutes late, there is always some sort of holdup at SF, lol!

We usually experience turbulence around the equator but this flight experienced a lot of turbulence across the whole Pacific, it was not bad it just went on for a long time, lol!

Just before breakfast I decided to put my socks and shoes back on, my left foot was all sorted but then I could not find my other sock. I looked everywhere and even asked one of the flight attendants but no sock. So I had my breakfast and that flight attendant served me two or three times. The turbulence was bad again so we were told no hot drinks but then they brought out the takeaway cups and took orders, lol!

After breakfast, I searched for my sock again and then happen to catch something out of the corner of my eye, my sock over my left shoulder where it had been all the time, LOL!!! I told the flight attendant I found my sock and where, it caused some amusement. 

Friday

We landed about half an hour late and all was good through security etc. I made my way to the domestic terminal and the regional lounge was a nightmare, it was so crowded. The flight to Napier was on time and after a good flight my friend was there to greet me. It was a gorgeous day both in Auckland and Napier.

I went to the vet to check on Seb and I was told I could return later in the afternoon to collect him, he had been on a drip for a week and was looking pretty good. This was his third visit to the vet hospital while I have been away for a variety of ailments mostly due to his kidney issues. 

His body is shutting down as he gets dehydrated but when they put a drip in for fluids he perks right up. I was allowed to bring him home over the weekend and then take him in for sub cutaneous fluids on Monday. As long as he is not in pain I will hopefully get a couple of weeks with him. This is almost shades of Sylvie!! They love him there as he is so good about his treatments and purrs his head off!

He has been very clingy but looks quite good although he has lost more weight!

Monday and Tuesday

On Monday, I took Seb back to the vet while I had a blood test and then I sat over a coffee to give him more time on the drip. The vet was very pleased with him and I do not have to take him back until Friday, yay!

On Tuesday, I went back to my specialist about my shoulder. The MRI indicated I have a tear in the supraspinatus, the tendon that runs across the top of the shoulder. He is still keen to manage the injury with physio and exercises. I go back in February for another follow up, I just hope it will settle down, lol!!
