I had a great time with Mudje, so many thanks for the hospitality, including the bottle of Baileys for nightcaps, as well as for taking me around, it was a wonderfully full three days. I must also thank Bob for feeding me so well!! It was great to meet Henry and Guinness as well as see some of the outsiders, like Moose and Harrison!
We took off on time and as I had paid to upgrade to Economy + I had plenty of leg room. It is really worth it as it is more comfortable than Economy. We had a very smooth flight and landed on time at O'Hare. I was met with a wheelchair and we were at the carousel well ahead of time. The Airport Express shuttle that I had booked for was very close by and there was one shuttle waiting so I did not have to wait around.
Once we got underway, we were in traffic that was just as bad as rush hour. We pretty much crawled along and it seems people are out getting to places before the snow hits! The woman behind me talked on her phone almost the whole trip, not sure I would want to share my life with all and sundry, lol!!
Just as we reached the city I saw a sign saying 21 at 3.10 pm, that was F not C, lol! I had an email from home and they reached 30 C, lol! Although the Willis Tower was close by we went down to Michigan Avenue and carried on to drop one passenger off. The traffic was horrendous both vehicular and pedestrian. Finally, I was dropped off at Union station and I found passenger services to get the assistance of a Red Cap. I had decided to pay the $20 to go in the Legacy Club as I had five plus hours to kill. It was worth it as they had snacks, drinks and WiFi. I managed to upload the last photos for my blog and publish it!
Later, I went out of the lounge and found the station Starbucks, my last one for a while, lol! The Red Cap came to collect us about 8.20 and took us down to the boarding lounge, a different one from most passengers! The guy finally came back and while It was warm inside the station it was not too bad outside as the station is well covered in.
We left on time and went out into the snow. There were quite a few people travelling to Bryan and when the conductor made his welcome announcement he welcomed the whole town of Bryan, lol.
It was a good trip although, as per usual, we were running late and arrived almost 30 minutes late in Bryan. Of course it was Sunday morning by then!! it was snowing quite hard and about 2 inches had settled.
Bruno came outside but he is a big baby and was scared of me, lol, although once I was inside he was fine. Guido and Niko both welcomed me home, Niko looks in good shape and has been eating much better!
We sat around for some time chatting then I went upstairs and unpacked, it did not take too long! Then it was time for a cup of tea which I was hanging out for, lol! About 7 am, it had stopped snowing, I went up to shower and finally hopped into my cosy bed, it has an electric blanket on it!! Guido joined me and after lots of snuggles, curled up on my feet. I slept until after midday but had to spend some time giving Guido snuggles before I could get up. It was snowing quite hard and there was definitely more on the ground.
The snow plough went by in the early afternoon, it does a loop so went by once in each direction. Lisa went outside to shovel so I also went out and took a few photos,
When it was near dark I went out and took some photos of the lights while the snow was
fresh, it was still fairly heavy and the wind was whipping the flag. The snow plough came back and actually made four passes along the road. Lisa shovelled one last time for the night and she reckons we have had between 8 and 10 inches, she has taken tonight off from work so she won't have to go out and drive thank goodness.
