Monday June 27 (Whistler - Peak 2 Peak)

Oh what a fabulous day!! It did not start well as I did not sleep overnight, and then, after hanging round, to waste time, for some time, I discovered they had opened up half an hour early, I am not sure how we are to know these things, lol!

I did manage some breakfast while I was wasting time, lol! Once they started loading the gondolas it did not take long to clear the queue, I did not hear an English voice anywhere in my vicinity, lol!

I finally got to do the Peak 2 Peak experience and what an experience it was!! I travelled up on the Village Gondola to the Whistler Peak area, as we were reaching the end of this trip we could see the P2P gondolas going across the valley!!

Then we crossed to the Blackcomb Peak area, on the other side of a valley, via the P2P. I was in a gondola on my own, it was fine although when we sat still for five minutes half way across I did begin to wonder, lol!! Apparently it was just a minor issue!!

There followed a new experience for me, a chair lift, this, my first, went to 7th Heaven and back. A bus took us from the P2P to the bottom of the lift. There were some fantastic views and many people were skiing and snowboarding on the glacier side. Here, I walked in the snow under sunny skies, there was still a significant amount around.

Once the bus had returned us from 7th heaven, I had to catch the P2P again back in the opposite direction so I could ride the Peak Express chair lift. This was still closed when I first arrived.

There is a connecting path to the Peak Express and boy, it is very steep. From the top we saw more skiers as well as gorgeous views.

On the way down, we had a stoppage for a couple of minutes, I was getting used to just hanging around, lol!

I noticed many women wearing sandals, they obviously did not realise what thy were in for, there were also some Indian women in Sari's and, of course, some Asian men in suits!!

After the walk/climb back from the Peak Express, it was time to go back across on the P2P yet again (think I was dizzy by now, lol) to catch the two chair lifts back to North Whistler Village, phew!! The cloud was beginning to roll in as I was returning so I was very lucky!!
As I was going down, several people were on their way up, there was no way they would get their money's worth like I had done!!

I took many photos and also some videos, one on each chair lift. once back down I wandered back to the main village and had to cross then bridge over a large stream that is obviously fed by glaciers.

I purchased an egg salad roll for lunch and one for dinner and it was then back to Starbucks for another coffee.

Back at the hotel, it was time to pack my bags and write up my blog. While I was doing this the cloud thickened and the forecast (possible) thunder storms started along with some heavy rain. The mountain might have been closed earlier than scheduled due to this.
