Sunday March 13 (Perth)

In spite of the heat, I slept well. Perth is five hours behind New Zealand so I am a wee bit out of kilter!

After a very late breakfast, we headed out to Freemantle. We stopped at a local
Woolworths so I could purchase some bottles of sparkling water. Edgar drove us alongside the Swan river and some of the houses are spectacular. We then headed to Cottesloe Beach to see the sculptures along the promenade as well as the beach. It was extremely busy, lots of cars and crowds of people enjoying the beach on a hit sunny day. We stopped for a coffee at a place called the Blue Duck, it is located above the beach.

We then returned to Freemantle and sat by the harbour entrance watching people bring their boats in after a day at sea. We then headed to Cicerello's for a Fish and Chip dinner. I managed to catch the sunset over the Indian Ocean and it was so beautiful as well as spectacular.

I packed some of my things into a small bag I had brought with me as I am off to
Kalgoorlie tomorrow. This was the centre of the gold mining industry and has been around for a long time, they still mine for gold and I have a trip booked for Wednesday to visit the Super Pit.
