Saturday October 10 (Sauder Village)

One week until the wedding and the ten day forecast is looking good so fingers crossed.

It was another beautiful day although a wee bit cool first thing. After I had eaten breakfast, Harry came home and we set off to the Post Office in Archbold, I needed to organise a stamp for a padded envelope. We then called in on his mother and had a good chat.

When I returned home, Lisa was awake and we were going to Sauder Village to visit for a few hours. I have been there before but it was early spring and the various houses were not open. Today was a chance to go and look inside them!

there is a new house to view, it is set up as if it was in the 1920's and we went there first. We then wandered round visiting the glass making and pottery shops.

These shops, along with many others, have local artisans plying their trade and so they provide a view into real working environments.

We then entered the museum but most of the exhibits are closed off after a flood earlier in the summer. I am so pleased I had seen all these on my previous visit!

It was then a good time to take a train ride round the village. This was fun and reminded me of similar rides when i was a kid!!

As we were preparing to de-train I dropped my camera, ugh!! Fortunately, all seemed well and we carried on with our exploration.

I was to discover much later that the memory card had "bounced" out of its slot so many of the photos I took after that point were lost. I wish the camera had displayed message saying "no memory card"!!

I was most annoyed at losing a particular group I took for a friend, they were inside the weaving store and showed the looms as well as some of the products!!

We found a coffee and home made chocolate store and went in for a coffee. The chocolate was very expensive so no need to be tempted, lol! We then thought we would take a ride on the horse drawn buggy but they had finished for the day!

After visiting the gift shop and noticing that the New Zealand flag was flying out the front, we made our way home but returned not long after along with Harry to eat at the Barn.

There was a buffet meal and the broasted chicken was delicious. I partook of the strawberry cheesecake for dessert but then they brought some cherry cheesecake out and that is my favourite, so.........!!!!!!

We were home early and I managed to get some photos of Niko doing what he has pestered me to do most of the time here!! He is very strange in that he demands to be foot rubbed all the time, he butts his head against your foot, or sits and stares at you! He will also accept quite strong hand pats on his back or his side and he makes a very good drum, lol!!
