Tuesday July 5 (Eagles at Seabeck)

We headed out to hopefully see some Eagles today. We arrived about an hour before low tide and there were a few hanging around.

Soon after we arrived, the weather closed in and the rain came down. It looked as if it had set in for the day but after about half an hour, the clouds lifted and the rain stopped.

We were then treated to some great sights, plenty of eagles flying around as well as on the ground. There were also a large number of Blue Herons, more than usual.

There were a lot of juvenile eagles to be seen. There were a few close encounters between some of the eagles and one of the juveniles managed to chase an adult away from his spot, lol!!

There were lots of eagles flying around, many more than on my last visit. Two flew up to the top of a high tree and one that was already sitting there took off at a rate of knots.

At one point it looked as if a crow was chasing an eagle! There was also a close encounter between an eagle and one of the herons.

Watching eagles in flight is an awesome experience, they are magnificent in the air. Even the Blue Heron were fascinating to watch in the air but nothing beats the eagles! As I was using continuous shooting for much of the time, I ended up taking nearly 4,000 photos!!! It has taken quite a while to sort through them, lol!!

We then went onto Smokey Robinsons Cafe for the best BBQ ribs in town! They truly were delicious, i ordered six but took two home for tea! I collected a Starbucks coffee on the way home and then I spent some hours sorting the photos and writing my blog!

  1. That was a great day! I was really afraid we were not going to see many eagles again! Father's Day weekend is the very best time to see them, the parents are teaching their young to fish, and at one area you could count as many as 50-60 eagles ! But you were right, we were not disappointed!! They put on a decent show for us this day too!! Smokin' Robinsons is not a disappointment either!! As far as I'm concerned, they have the best ribs anywhere so far that I have tried!!! They are our favorite!! It's been a pleasure having you visit us!!! We miss you bunches!!! Serenity too!!! We mention your name and she goes to the stairway!!!
